V= Victory V=Vaccine

HIV/AIDS may be the biggest challenge of our generation. For more than 25 years, we’ve been fighting the good fight, finding better ways to treat HIV/AIDS through research. But for every two people put on HIV treatment worldwide, five new people become infected. The epidemic is still outpacing our ability to deal with it. And that’s where HIV vaccine research comes in.

Vaccines may hold the best promise for stopping the HIV/AIDS pandemic. However, finding a safe and effective HIV vaccine that will protect people is a huge task. This will take many years of research and even more people to volunteer to participate in HIV vaccine studies. And that’s where you come in.

Since only humans can get HIV, the only way to know how vaccine candidate is safe and effective is to test it in people. This type of research—called clinical research—has been used to find other recent vaccines successes—including the hepatitis B, chickpox, and HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccines. These important vaccine victories couldn’t have been possible without the dedicated participation of people like you.

We invite you to learn more about HIV vaccine research and how, through clinical research, we’re looking to turn hope into victory.
